Which vendors are compared here?

Each comparison leads with the structural question that decides that particular matchup, and names the scenarios where the other platform is the better answer. Read the one that matches the vendor already on your shortlist; there is no value in reading all nine.
Is nine the whole field?
No. These are the vendors we have written about, and the field holds more credible options than that. If the platform on your shortlist is missing, the six structural questions on the choosing-a-CCMS page work against any vendor, including ones we have never evaluated. Absence from this list is not a verdict on a product, only a gap in what we have published.
Who writes these comparisons, and how should we read the bias?
They are written by the vendor of one of the platforms in the list, so the bias is real and better stated than hidden. What makes them usable is that each one names where the other platform wins, in the terms a buyer would use. Check every factual claim against the other vendor's own documentation. Anything here that does not survive that check is wrong, and worth telling us about.
We are not on Microsoft 365. Which comparison is worth our time?
Probably none of them, and that is the useful answer to get on the first call. DitaExchange is the wrong CCMS for an organization that is not already on Microsoft and has no plan to move there, because most of the argument comes from sitting on an estate you already run. Heretto and Paligo are the stronger starting points for a cloud-native stack.
Is Adobe FrameMaker in the same category as the rest of the list?
No. FrameMaker is a desktop authoring tool rather than a CCMS, so that comparison is about a different decision: whether a document-based toolchain has reached its limit and needs component management underneath it. Adobe AEM Guides is the CCMS in the Adobe portfolio, and it requires Experience Manager. An organization already running AEM should weigh that option before looking outside it.
